Resources on comparing sutra in different languages here.
I'm no scholar and don't plan to be about this subject, but i think it is good to have the resources to point others to if they decide to be sanskrit/pali scholars.
side note -
i notice how seriously scholars of these topics seem to take themselves (see the discussion after the actual post on IDP's blog). like knowing that they are "right" about what the buddha said or did not say makes them better buddhists, teachers, humans than others who are looking to spirituality as inspiration to live a better, more fulfilling life. i hope to understand this perspective better someday.
